PRK - Photorefractive Keratectomy

Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) is the most common LASIK alternative. PRK is an alternative to LASIK for medical reasons such as thin corneas or lifestyle reasons like the risk of blunt force to the eye. The most important fact is the end result of PRK is the same as LASIK.

EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens)

The EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is an excellent alternative to LASIK for patients with a variety of conditions such as moderate to severe nearsightedness, thin corneas, large pupils or persistent dry eye and are under the age of 45.

Contoura Vision Topography Guided LASIK or PRK

Contoura Vision Topography Guided LASIK or PRK (Contoura Vision) is the next innovative level of customization for LASIK and PRK surgery. Contoura Vision is the Wavelight® Topolyzer VARIO Diagnostic Device (VARIO) in conjunction with our Wavelight EX500 laser. Although not all patients are good candidates for, or will benefit from Contoura Vision, all patients will be evaluated and given the option of this additional level of customization if appropriate.

Monovision LASIK or PRK

Providence Eye has been offering monovision with LASIK vision correction for many patients since opening in 2003. However, advancements in technology have made it a much better option. Monovision will be explained and offered as a potential vision outcome for all patients who are over the age of 40, the age when presbyopia typically becomes evident.

Refractive Lens Exchange

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), also known as clear lens exchange, may be an excellent LASIK alternative for patients who are severely farsighted, experiencing presbyopia, have the onset of cataracts and/or are looking for a more permanent solution without waiting for cataract surgery.
