Q: Jonathan, we are thrilled to hear all about your LASIK experience at Providence Eye. It’s always great to hear different perspectives from our current and past patients on their unique journey to LASIK eye surgery. Before we talk LASIK, can you tell me a little bit about your family and your profession?
A: Of course – I have a wife who is currently living in the south of Brazil and two children. By trade, I am a Chemical Engineer (PhD), but I am now in a role where I’m responsible for the Americas Region for a Finnish Corporation.

Q: Wow, those are some impressive professional credentials! With your wife currently living in another country and working for a non-US based company I assume you travel extensively?
A: I travel every single week, and my travel is a mix of domestic and international travel. Actually, one of the key reasons I began looking into LASIK was so I would not have to carry my glasses and contact lenses with me on every trip.
Q: It sounds like you’ve seen a lot of sights! So, you just gave some insight into your decision to have LASIK eye surgery, but what was your deciding factor?
A: If I had to sum it up in one word, it’d be, CONVENIENCE since I travel both domestically and internationally every week! Before LASIK, when I would take overnight international flights, fighting with my contact lenses and glasses was a pain.
There is also an ongoing cost associated with contact lenses and glasses, so I knew that the benefits from LASIK eye surgery would far exceed the cost almost immediately. LASIK truly pays for itself in just a few years, and the lifestyle improvement is priceless.
Q: Once you had your LASIK eye surgery, how soon after did you get on an airplane?
A: The minimum permitted time, if I recall correctly, was around one week. My calendar shows that my first flight was exactly one week after my procedure, and I traveled long haul, to Brazil.
Q: Did Dr. Mozayeni provide you with any instructions for flying?
A: Yes, he did! The key thing he mentioned was to always have my eye drops in hand and if my eyes felt dry, to apply the drops. Dr. Mozayeni reassured me that I was ok to fly after my LASIK and there would be no issue – and he was correct. The air on planes is always dry, so I simply kept my eyes hydrated at all times.
Q: How did your eyes feel after your first flight?
A: My eyes felt completely fine. No issue at all!
Q: Well it probably goes without saying, but we are so excited that your LASIK eye surgery has been such a life-changing procedure and that you trusted and chose us for your surgery. How did you know that Dr. Mozayeni was the right surgeon for you and your eyes?
A: I ultimately chose Dr. Mozayeni for my LASIK for two reasons: 1. His reputation, and 2. based on the fact he is always using the latest technology for his LASIK procedures.
Q: We thank you for trusting us with your eyes! Dr. Mozayeni is certainly dedicated to quality through his meticulous evaluation standards and the personal approach he takes with every patient. You will be celebrating your one-year LASIK anniversary in September. Now that you look back, was it a good decision?
A: As I mentioned earlier, and I can’t stress it enough, LASIK is a life-changing decision. Swimming after LASIK is now a no-stress activity, whereas before it was stressful because I’d always lose a contact lens (or two). Golf has become easier, and sun cream in the eyes can simply be wiped away, rather than smearing all over a contact lens.
Q: Well Jonathan, as you approach your one-year LASIK anniversary and are living glasses and contact free, what do you like to do with your new and improved vision?
A: When I get a chance, I love to golf.
While our patients certainly get LASIK to improve their vision, this procedure gives back so much more than better eyesight. LASIK eye surgery helps eliminate the ongoing cost of contacts and glasses, provides a level of convenience without having to worry about contacts and contact solution, and makes day-to-day activities more enjoyable.
