At Providence Eye & Laser Specialists, we supply our patients with quality preparation materials and advice so they can have the best LASIK eye surgery experience. It is very important that you follow all the guidelines outlined by your surgeon, Dr. Nunnery or Dr. Mozayeni when you are preparing for LASIK eye surgery. We have listed the 10 simple, yet extremely important tips that Providence Eye asks all his patients to keep in mind before LASIK.

1. Be on time.

Eliminate any extra stress by being on time or early to your LASIK eye surgery appointment. If you are notoriously late, set your watch or alarm clock 10 minutes fast to pace yourself. It is also important to note that your LASIK procedure will take only 10-15 minutes, but you will be in our office for a total of 90 minutes.

2. Do not bring young children to your LASIK procedure.

Whether you are the patient or the driver, we highly recommend leaving young children with a family member, friend or babysitter on the day of your (or someone else’s) LASIK eye surgery. Their sudden movements could accidentally strike and harm post-op eyes.

3. Avoid caffeine.

Before LASIK, be sure to drink water instead of coffee or soda. Caffeine can cause your eyes to feel dry, which will make it difficult for you to be fully relaxed after receiving LASIK.

4. No mobile phones.

We ask that all patients and guest set all mobile phones to airplane mode. Our advanced lasers supply us with state-of-the-art technology, but are still sensitive to interference. For your convenience, free wi-fi is available to patients and guests in our office.

5. Eat beforehand.

We recommend coming into your procedure with a full stomach before LASIK. Grab a healthy snack that will keep you comfortable throughout your LASIK eye surgery and afterwards, when you take a long nap.

6. Come with a responsible driver.

Overall, you will feel normal after your LASIK procedure is complete. However, you will not be able to drive yourself home. Before LASIK, ask a responsible friend or family member to be your post-op chauffeur and help you into bed after getting home.

7. Wear close-toed shoes.

For your safety, we do not allow LASIK patients to wear flip flops or other open-toed shoes on the day of their LASIK eye surgery. It maximizes patient safety and minimizes chances for post-op tripping and falling.

8. Wear warm clothing.

Be sure to layer with warm, comfortable clothing, just in case our laser suite gets chilly during your LASIK procedure. We want our patients to be as comfortable as possible during their corrective eye surgery.

9. Make sure you signed your consent.

In the pocket folder provide to you at your consultation you will find a copy of the consent form. Please read it and fully understand the consent form by the time your LASIK eye surgery date arrives. You will receive an electronic copy via DocuSign that we will request you to sign digitally.

10. Please pay via link.

Our office will inform you of all LASIK costs before the day of your procedure. We will text you a link the week of your procedure so that you can pay online. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, bank checks, Flex Spending Accounts (FSA), and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) for all LASIK eye surgery operations. Additionally, if necessary we offer financing with Care Credit.
