Monovision LASIK is a technique that corrects both your distance vision and near vision and works well for people with presbyopia. Both OptiLASIK all-laser LASIK and PRK all-laser no-flap LASIK can be used as a method for monovision LASIK.
Since the start of his career, Dr. Mozayeni has successfully recommended LASIK as a method to achieve monovision. Achieving monovision with LASIK has been an option since 1994, but has been especially successful since the introduction of the WaveLight Allegretto Eye-Q Laser in 2004 and now the WaveLight EX500 Laser installed in 2014.
How do you achieve monovision with LASIK?
LASIK eye surgery permanently corrects your non-dominant eye for near vision so you can read clearly and your dominant eye for distance. Typically, our brain can adapt to these changes and learn to use the dominant eye for distance. If you have not experienced monovision with contact lenses, it is required to “test drive” this treatment technique before any surgery. We provide this “test driving” service under the direction of Dr. Mills or Dr. Madaris, our contact lens experts.
As always, during your complimentary consultation, we will explain all the options to you and recommend only those that best meet your specific needs and condition.
