The VISX laser was the first FDA approved laser in the United States and has been available since 1994. It is certainly one of the truly tried and tested lasers and Dr. Mozayeni has been using it since it’s approval. It has been through several generations of upgrades and currently is referred to as the VISX® Star S4™ Laser.
The VISX Star S4 Laser is one of the two lasers used by Dr. Mozayeni to complete the LASIK procedure. After a flap is made by our Intralase® Laser, one of two lasers is used to reshape the cornea to complete the process:
The VISX® Star S4™ is capable of performing both a standard (non-wavefront) treatment and a CustomVueM (Wavefront guided) treatment. The CustomVueTM treatment provided by the VISX Star S4 Laser utilizes information regarding the distortion of light as it passes through each person’s eye and attempts to reduce those that may be causing symptoms such as glare and halos. Although this may be beneficial in some situations, it is rarely recommended over the technology offered by our Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser which is based on newer technology.
