Monovision is a technique that has worked well for a significant number of people with presbyopia in Charlotte, NC, and around the world. Both OptiLASIK all-laser blade-free LASIK and PRK all-laser no-flap LASIK can be used as a method for reading vision correction.
Since the start of his career, Dr. Mozayeni has successfully recommended LASIK as a method to achieve monovision. Achieving monovision with LASIK has been an option since 1994, but has been especially successful since the introduction of the Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser in 2004.
How do you achieve monovision with LASIK?
LASIK eye surgery permanently corrects your non-dominant eye for near vision, so you can read clearly. Typically, our brain can adapt to these changes and learn to use the dominant eye for distance. If you have not experienced monovision with lenses, it is required to “test drive” this treatment technique before any surgery. We provide this “test driving” service under the direction of Dr. Mills, our contact lens expert.
As always, during your free consultation, we will explain all the options to you and recommend only those that best meet your specific needs and condition.
