So you are finally ready to have LASIK. Congratulations! Now, how do you find the LASIK surgeon that is right for you? When evaluating LASIK surgeons it is necessary to take several things into account. Those are:

The doctor’s experience, training, bedside manner

Technology

Finances

Anything important to you

You need to make the personal decision as to which of these aspects in most important to you.

LASIK is only performed by Ophthalmologists. Unlike other eye care providers Ophthalmologists have received an MD or Medical Degree. LASIK is a procedure done on the Cornea. Look for a surgeon who is a Cornea Specialists. This requires an additional year of training.

Make sure you meet your doctor during your initial consultation. LASIK is not for everyone. It is critically important for your doctor to not only understand the health of your eye to insure you are a good candidate but for the doctor to understand your lifestyle and how you use your vision everyday. With this information the doctor can make a recommendation that best suits you, not the person who sat in the chair before you.

Don’t just ask your doctor how many procedures they have done, ask them how many people they turn away. You want to know that your doctor only does surgery on those people that are good candidates. Not everyone is a good candidate for LASIK. Here is a photo basic photo showing the eye and how the laser is used.

Most LASIK practices offer financing options. But beware of “per eye discounts” as their is typically small print associated with such offers. When it really comes down to your eyes do you want “discounted” surgery.

Thousands of people every year have LASIK and love the results. Ask your friends who did their LASIK surgery. Read a potential doctors website and check out their Facebook pages to see what their fans have to say. Find out your doctors local reputation.

Bottom line do your homework and you are sure to make the right decision for yourself.

What is important to you when as you research LASIK?

Read about Dr. Mozayeni and Providence Eye & Laser Specialists by visiting his Web Site or check out what his fans are saying on Facebook.

When it come to investing in technology Cornea Specialist and LASIK surgeon Dr. Mozayeni (Charlotte, NC) leaves no stone unturned. He carefully evaluates new technological opportunities and wants to provide his patients with the best technology that is available and approved by the FDA.

That is why Dr. Mozayeni invested in the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q. Over the next several days you will learn about this remarkable technology.

WaveLight was the first company to introduce high-speed laser vision correction in the United States. Now, the ALLEGRETTO WAVE®Eye-Q takes the technology one step further with the fastest excimer laser system available today in the U.S. Thanks to the incredible power of the laser, many people can have their vision corrected in as little as eight seconds, some even more quickly. At the same time, the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q delivers superior results, with less risk of side effects.

Perfect Pulse™

PerfectPulse Technology™ ensures safe and precise work at high speed. Each ultra-thin laser pulse is used to sculpt the corneal surface of the eye with the utmost accuracy. The high-speed eye-tracker follows the eye’s fastest movements, checking the eye’s positions 400 times per second while ensuring an accurate placement of each laser pulse on the cornea. In addition, an integrated crossline projector provides the surgeon with an exact alignment of the eye’s position, making the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q one of the safest, most effective optical lasers currently available.

PerfectPulse Technology™ represents a new approach to laser vision correction. It accounts for much of the speed, precision, and safety of the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q laser and offers improvements that are revolutionary in the field. Smart energy control measures and adjusts energy levels in the laser pulse from creation to delivery. High-speed eye tracking charts the eye’s movement 200 times per second. As a result, every laser pulse is completely controlled, allowing for the most accurate level of correction possible.

With this speed you procedure can be completed in about the time it takes to pour a cup of coffee!

As someone who is considering LASIK with Dr. Mozayeni at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists there are many things you are probably considering. For example: his medical training, his experience, the technology, the office facilities. But one thing you probably have not considered is how that laser works. No worries, Dr. Mozayeni has looked into this in great detail. Here is just some information about this technology that complelled Dr. Mozayeni to make such a great investment.

Smart Energy Control

You can have peace of mind that the amount of energy in the laser has been calibrated to exactly the right level. After the beam has been created, it passes through three checkpoints on its way to your eye. At each of these points, the energy level is checked and adjusted if necessary, ensuring that the beam is perfectly attuned at its destination.

The ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q laser is essentially a precise, controlled beam of energy. The laser employs a proprietary overlapping method to ensure accurate laser placement, and is one of the ways that ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q is able to achieve a rounder, more natural corneal surface than many other lasers used for vision correction.

Eye Tracking Technology

Due to the remarkable speed of both the eye and the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q procedure, the laser beam needs to be constantly and minutely adjusted to the position of the eye at any given time. Every four to six milliseconds, the eye’s location is measured and the internal mirrors of the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q are automatically aligned. Just before the pulse is released, a second check is made to confirm that the eye has not moved. This happens 200 times every second, once for every laser pulse. If, at any time, the eye moves too quickly to be measured or moves out of range, the laser will stop and wait for the eye to move back into position.

Speed

Currently, the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q is the fastest vision correction laser for LASIK available in the United States. At 200 laser bursts per second, it takes only about four seconds of treatment to correct one diopter. Of course, spending less time under the laser means less stress and discomfort for the patient.

Now that is reassuring! Just wait until you come into Providence Eye & Laser and meet Dr. Mozayeni you will be even more assured.

It is easy to be scared about LASIK. After all these are the only eyes you have. By listening to the media you may become even more scared. So how do you listen to media stories that scare you and then try to get the courage to go have a LASIK consultation?

Look carefully at the whole piece. A few things you should look for are:

Who is providing the information? Are they certified or considered an expert?

How relevant is their information? Is it current or dated?

Are both sides of the story presented?

Look carefully and determine if this is fact or opinion.

Is this information specific to your doctor or the technology your doctor uses?

In the 21st century we are fortunate enough to have lots of media (television, internet, social). If you are going to listen to one media story you owe it to yourself to look at several. So instead of avoiding that LASIK consultation because of what you saw while you were drinking your coffee this morning, jump on your computer and do a little more leg work.

Google your Ophthalmologist.

Visit the Ophthalmologist Web Site.

Does this doctor have a Facebook page? What are fans saying?

Cross reference what you saw on the news with information on your doctor.

Write down your questions and concerns you learned from the media piece. You should meet your LASIK surgeon during your initial consultation and he should be willing to answer all of your questions and concerns no matter how long it takes. If he does not you should find another doctor.

It is okay to be scared, but not based on information that is not applicable, misleading, or dated.

What other suggestions do you have for finding the right LASIK Surgeon?

Dr. Mozayeni at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists is dedicated to providing the best patient care. Check out his Web Site or his Facebook Page.

There is no doubt in this economy that everyone is carefully watching their expenses. Making the decision to save money for any elective procedure is a big one. Making the decision to have LASIK is even bigger. It is natural to gravitate to advertisements that you hear offering discounts. ”$1000 off LASIK”!! Sounds great. How can you go wrong? LASIK is LASIK right? Wrong.

LASIK is a delicate procedure. After all, it is on your eye, considered to be one of the most delicate parts of your body. If you were looking for a heart surgeon would you be looking for a $1000 off your by pass surgery? Probably not. The wide spread acceptance of LASIK has made people believe that any eye doctor can perform LASIK surgery. It is true that any Ophthalmologist (Eye doctor with a MD) can perform LASIK. But did you know that some eye doctors go to additional training called fellowships. This makes them experts in their field. LASIK is performed on the cornea. It would make sense to have a cornea specialist perform such a delicate procedure.

With that $1000 off what are you getting? More importantly, what are you not getting?

How much time will your doctor give you to determine if you are a candidate?

Will the doctor be involved in your initial consultation, do the entire procedure, and be involved in your post-operative care?

Will they be using all of the technology available to determine if you are a good candidate?

What type of post operative care will you receive?

Is the price the same no matter how “blind” you are?

Using price as one of your factors in making a decision about LASIK is fine. But look for a cornea specialist who performs LASIK. Ask how many procedures they have done. Ask how many people they turn away due to them not being a good candidate. And ask lots of questions about price. Make sure you know what you are getting and what you are paying for.
$1000 off sounds great but looks can be deceiving.
For straight forward honest pricing and a cornea specialist visit Dr. Mozayeni at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists.

Dr. Mozayeni recently received the following e-mail from a patient…..

“I am a mid-thirties banker and triathlete. The combination of my 70+ hour work weeks and triathlon training schedule puts exceptionally heavy demands on my eyes, both of which were over -6.00 in terms of power (in other words, my vision was poor).

I wanted to explore options that would allow me to liberate my eyes from over two decades of wearing contacts and glasses. Dr. Mozayeni’s practice clearly differentiated itself through a combination of exceptionally high personal attention that was coupled with a strong sense of ensuring that my procedure represented the best near (and long) term choice for me. Unlike other “production line” practices that I had encountered, Dr. Mozayeni took painstaking measures to ensure that the proposed procedure was appropriate for me.

The end result for me is now vision that is better than 20-20. Needless to say, it was a life-changing event. Every step of the process from the front office paperwork to the post-op visits were handled with tremendous professionalism and personal attention. My only regret is that I did not do it sooner. I strongly recommend his practice, and I would not trust my eyes to anyone else.”

Dr. Mozayeni’s meticulous screening process, state of the art technology, and experience insures that you have an excellent experience from beginning to end.
